Hot Fashion in BRAG Showroom at Gibbs College!comments (0) September 22nd, 2008
Last Thursday, I hopped in the car and drove to Farmington, CT, to attend the Grand Opening of the Showroom at Gibbs College. I had been to their Freedom of Expression Fashion Show earlier this year, so I knew I was in for a treat. Among the talented fashion students, three designers were chosen to feature their work in the showroom. Vanessa Ortiz, Daniela Vlad, and Alysia Forde put on an impressive display. Vintage designer Vanessa Ortiz looked like she had just walked out of the pages of a 1950s Vogue magazine. Her collection of garments were a wonderful mix of plaids, prints, and textures that worked well together to convey her vintage style. I'm not surprised...she has experience in visual merchandising at Anthropologie (my favorite store!). With plans to capture the plus-size market, Alysia Forde's use of color and flattering style lines will go a long way to offer all women the kind of choices that were traditionally exclusive to the standard-size market. Finally, Daniela Vlad presented a collection of her wonderful gowns. A recent graduate of Gibbs College, she is the owner and designer of Daniela Vald Couture. I was very excited to hear that she is having the Grand Opening of her studio on October 3rd...Congratulations Daniela!
