Holly berries and mushrooms decorate your felt Buche de Noel.
Dont want to make decorations? No problem! Use Christmas broaches, flowers from the dollar store, or items from your Christmas stash to give it some seasonal pop!
Traditional Buche de Noel cakes are decorated with meringue mushrooms and frosting or marzipan holly berries, but you can find all sorts of kookie holiday decorations on these tasty treats. Here, several are displayed in a Paris shop window. Yum!

Since it's hard to use stuffing to plump up the berries (because they are so small), I use the scraps from the cut leaves. Each berry is stuffed with five smaller pieces of felt.

Sew up the berries using a blanket stitch.

Sew or glue the berries together, then attach them to the holly leaves.

Now that you have your decorations made, get to decorating! Use your fabric glue to attach mushrooms and holly berries to your log. If you want to be able to remove them from the log, you can glue a pinback to the holly and use straight pins to attach the mushrooms. You can also use premade decorations to adorn your log. The French go crazy with their decorations, so don't be afraid to go a bit wild.

Have fun and Joyeux Noel!
