The route along the Columbia River was particularly windy and, at times, it felt like Vanna was more like a sailboat than a U-Haul! The combination of river and mountain created absolutely breathtaking views as we traveled from eastern Oregon to Portland along I84. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures to share, but then I think this is one of those things you have to experience for yourself. A photograph could not come close to doing justice to the beautiful scenery!

We checked into the hotel on Monday night. Exhibitor set-up starts on Wednesday. That left me Tuesday to explore Portland a little.

Bridges   Portland is known as the City of Roses, but I think it could also be the city of bridges. Water is everywhere and it seems the city is split into parts by water.
Voodoo Doughnuts   Anywhere in the country, Portland-based Voodoo Doughnuts seems to be a common textbook case-study for state-of-the-art marketing tactics. The company has established their unique brand in a saturated market by being different.
Doughnut   They sell tons of unique doughnut varieties, but perhaps the most well-known is the Voodoo Doughnut which comes with its own pretzel-stick stabber. To top it off, it 'bleeds' raspberry jelly. So if you are feeing a bit frustrated, you can take it out on your doughnut!
