Extremely creative because the end product can be truly uniquely yours based on the color combinations you use. And it is a great stash buster. The granny squares can be linked together for a belt, a shoulder strap, combined to make a vest, skirt, wrap, baby clothes,an afghan, or anything you can imagine. What's not to love!

MamaEuny writes: My mother had made a granny square afghan when she was a young bride. They had hardly any money and people had given her leftover bits of yarn from which she made the afghan. It had so many different colors and types of yarn! I always thought of it as a field of wildflowers. It was always in our living room to snuggle under while reading or watching tv. Granny squares have such fond memories for me!
