Button Jewelry at the Expo!
October 2nd, 2008 in jewelry making, crochetI'm at the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Chantilly, VA, this week. After a busy day setting up our booth (pictures to follow soon), we had a yummy dinner at Bob O's and a 4:00 am fire alarm (that nearly scared me to death). Today was the first day of the Expo, and Gail (my designer friend) and I were raring to go. We were busy meeting people, networking, and selling patterns. In between chatting with people, I had an opportunity to do some people watching. Among all the crafty stuff I saw, here are two of my favorite button beauties.
The first is a crocheted button necklace. The lovely woman that was wearing this necklace was kind enough to let me take a picture, explaining that she made it herself from a pattern that she had gotten a long time ago. I love the combination of crochet and the use of buttons. If you want to try it yourself, check out these easy-to-follow instructions.
Then I saw a wonderful bracelet made from antique Bakelite buttons. After seeing these two pieces of jewelry, I think I'm going to take a second look at my own button collections, what about you?
More breaking news from the Expo Soon!
