Photo: Gingerbread Barn

My daughter designed and built this barn for our Christmas centerpiece.  She drew out the pattern on paper, made the dough and cut out the pieces.  Once out of the oven, she scored the "barn board lines" and shook icing sugar over the "boards" and wiped it away, leaving the sugar in the grooves. She used royal icing to assemble and tin cans to hold up the walls while it dried.  The wreath is made from dired cranberries and rosemary. The logs are cinnamon sticks, stones are walnuts and almonds.  It was a real hit this Christmas.
