Pictured here is a pair of Vans I am painting for my Daughter. She asked me to paint a pair of "high school Vans" with the fronts being a favorite drawing she found that I drew in high school (She's in high school now!!) These are from my "swallow" series and will have all sides painted when done.

Here is the drawing from my school notebook.

Here is another pair of Vans I'm working on. My daughter is absolutely one of my best friends so I want them to be very special! She came up with the front panel idea right away, as she has always loved this drawing. The sides are taking a little longer to define since she is such a complex young lady! She's a cheerleader, she's had a menagerie of animals, loves lp records and Marilyn Monroe and oh so much more... what to choose! I will update the post with new pictures as we complete the sides. Thanks!

As I read the piece, your daughter reaches back and touches the girl you were by reviving this piece from your past and offers the gift of the rose (herself) to you, as you care for her soul (s) through that essential but often taken for granted - Mama love gift - New Shoes!
You are one lovin and talented lady. You daughter is a lucky gal to get to sport your artwork. I hope you put a crystal clear spray or a "finish" the surface in some way to seal and preserve it as long as possible.
