Finish the Necklace

To complete the necklace, knot the cord ends together to slip over the head easily, or add jewelry chain and findings to make the length adjustable. Either way, you're just a few steps from enjoying a charming accessory.

Pendant with a chain
Cut the cord ends 1 inch to 5 inches from the knot. Clamp a ribbon crimp end (available at FireMountainGems.com) onto each pair of cord ends. Cut two pieces of jewelry chain up to 12 inches long, depending on the desired finished necklace length. Open two jump rings and thread each through the ribbon crimp end loops. Thread the jump rings onto the chain ends and close the jump rings. Attach a jewelry clasp set to the chain ends.

Continuous-cord necklace
Measure the cord ends and mark the desired length. If the necklace is made from two cords, cut the ends 2 inches from the mark. Tie an overhand knot in each set of cords, 3 inches from the cut ends. For both double-cord and single-cord necklaces, tie both ends together tightly in a square knot.
