Pink Girl's Cloche Hat
comments (6) October 26th, 2008 in galleryThis week, I whipped up the Little Girl's Cloche pattern from emailedvintagepatterns.com! I've tried my hand at hats before, but this was simply the easiest pattern with delightful results. This is the first of many little felt hats I'll be making from this fabulous pattern. If only my head were just a little bit smaller, I could wear it out and about!
I cut the hat pattern from a single piece of Strawberry Cream felt and the seams aligned like a charm on the sewing machine. I tried using a bridging stitch at first, but ended up going with a sturdier zig-zag stitch. Edges are bound in felt as recommended in the instructions, but I also covered both sides of the binding with green ribbon.
Instead of an applique, I created a felt flower by combining Strawberry Cream and Bubblegum Pink felt. The green velvet center is from a stash of goodies I purchased a while back from Tinsel Trading Company in NYC.
