Two of the clothespin bats I made as samples at Crafty Wonderland last year are still hanging out around my house.

I taught this craft project at last October's Crafty Wonderland sale here in Portland, and everyone who stopped by the DIY table had fun whipping up a bat to bring home. You can find complete instructions and a bat template to print out on Martha Stewart's website, and then add your own flourishes like sequins, metallic inks, and glitter. The bat would make a fantastic hair decoration or over-the-top brooch, too.
Hope you're having a happy and fun (and crafty) Halloween!
