The great Vogue Fabric store of Evanston, Illinois, is one of the most popular vendors of the traveling Sewing Expo.
This gives you an idea of some of the impossible choices that you have to make when it comes to choosing fantastic fabric.

I do try to creep out of my sewing room every once in a while! Recently, I spent a little time at the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. In a previous life, I taught with this travelling expo and can't express how much I enjoyed that incredible learning experience. This year, though, it was great to be a participant, see some friends, and enjoy the younger group that seems to have just sprouted up in this thriving garden of learning, shopping, and mingling.

As I said, the expo travels. You can see their eight-city, spring/fall schedule on their Web site as well as the extensive list of classes for whatever you are into: knitting, hand-sewing, quilting, technology-based sewing, etc. If you're a beginner, they also offer many classes to help you get started.

My trip to the expo was made all the more thrilling as one of my all-time favorite vendors was there,Vogue Fabrics. As much as I wanted to empty my bank account and load up on the lush silks and fantastic home décor fabrics, I settled instead on a beautiful, green, houndstooth tweed.

I plan to make a cute coat out of it—after it ages a bit in my sewing room. You can see some of what they have to offer online, but be sure to check out the expo if it comes to a city near you!
