CraftStylish on Scene in Cali at Maker Faire
May 3rd, 2008 in other craftsGreetings from California!
The ladies of CraftStylish are in California preparing for the first day of Make magazine's amazing Maker Faire.
More than a craft fair, the Maker Faire incorporates the worlds of people who make all kinds of things from weaving textiles on tiny homemade looms to creating a giant Robot Giraffe (check out a video of the amazing robot here) that speaks and has lava lamps for ears! The one-of-a-kind DIY showcase champions creativity, ingenuity, and celebrates high-tech wizardry and low-tech craftsmanship—inspiration awaits!
Based on what we saw yesterday, we'll be lining up to check out the whimsical machine- and hand-stitched home goods from My Imaginary Boyfriend (loved the designer's felt throw pillow crafted to look like a log!) and the surprisingly beautiful, delicate renderings of oversize beetles and anatomically accurate human organs silkscreened dresses made of recycled and organic cottons and bamboo from Field Day Wearables.
