Restyle Alert: Vintage is Hot!comments (0) May 18th, 2008
One of my co-workers, Susan, had the opportunity to take a class with Hope Yoder, an author, designer and sewing instructor who loves heirloom. (If you’re interested in taking a class with Hope, click here to check out her teaching schedule.) While Susan was taking the class, Hope had shown them a project she adapted from a new shrug pattern in Favorite Things. Using Swiss Batiste, she created a feminine shrug that featured delicate French laces and embroidery on the cuff as well as an embroidered-lace shaped bow. I’m a bit of a “tomboy," but I could see myself wearing this over a summer nightgown or camisole. I thought it was cool that Hope used this hip new pattern from one of my favorite independent pattern companies and gave it a completely different look.
You can visit Hope’s Web site to see more of her heirloom embroidery designs. When I spoke to Hope on the phone, she told me a little about some of the projects that she was currently working on, and she assured me that the camisole that goes with the shrug will be introduced soon—and that it was even prettier than the shrug. I can’t wait! Check out her beautiful embroidery designs, and see what new runway looks you can come up with!
