Are you looking for a great gift idea for your special someone? Do you have enough free time to craft something unusual? Or, maybe, you are simply fond of making DIY kitchen decor elements that will contribute to the comfort and coziness of this special place in your home? Whatever purpose you have, this idea of a DIY cup pad will certainly appeal to you. This is a computer-inspired DIY item, which will be a nice decor for your kitchen - the one you will certainly be proud of. Just like it's not easy to create a website with SuperbWebsiteBuilders help, it will take some time to make this cup pad. All you need is a simple CD, glue, coffee grains… and a bit of patience. This cup pad will help preserve your furniture from overheating, filling your home with the unsurpassed aroma of coffee. So, let's get started.

Supplies:

  • CD or DVD

  • Glue for plastic or leather

  • Coffee grains - 500 g

  • A Cup

Step 1: Apply Glue on a Disk

Take a CD or a DVD disk you don't need anymore. Apply some glue on it to cover around ⅓ of the disk surface at first. Don't cover the entire CD surface with glue at once, because glue dries out quite fast and we need time to apply coffee grains, while the glue is still liquid. Mind that you have to apply a thick layer of glue for a better result.

Step 2: Glue the Coffee Grains

Wait for a couple of minutes and carefully spread the glue across the disk surface. Spread the coffee grains on the disk and start gluing them quickly, creating the composition. The coffee grain layer should be smooth. Mind that you should leave some place without any grains in the center of a disk. Otherwise, the cup may fall when you place it inside. For this very reason, it makes sense to make a pad for a certain cup you use every day.

Step 3: Repeat the Process Several times

If you need, repeat the previous step several times until the entire disk surface is covered. Look at the photos to see what we will eventually get as the glue dries out. Don't hurry up to finish the process as you run a risk of spoiling something. Don't forget to cover each ⅓ part of a disk independently to control the process.

Step 4: Place the Cup Inside

As soon as the disk with coffee grains dries out, set it aside for a while. Then take a cup and place it inside to test the pad. The cup should be filled with hot liquid to let the aroma of coffee grains spread in your house. If you wish to give your cup pad extra attractiveness, you can glue dried berries or shells along the border of it. Your imagination is unlimited here. Good luck!
