Meet Amazing Crochet Artist Aurelie Mathigotcomments (0) June 1st, 2008
Check out this gorgeous crochet work from artist Aurelie Mathigot, who lives and works in Paris.
Mathigot wants to talk about ordinary life in a new way through her work; in a way, she wants to “fix reality in another dimension to preserve it from leaving us.” The photos above are from her “My Bedroom” series, which she made in 2005 while spending two months in Rio De Janiero. The pieces express “a quiet extravagancy” that came from her need for security in response to the “intense colors and violence” from the city.
Be sure to click around her website for more visual goodness, including crocheted food and her embroidery-based canvas pieces.
