Find the Perfect Bag Handles Onlinecomments (0) June 3rd, 2008
It's time to get ready for summer with a great beach tote. But where to find the perfect handles? Here are a couple of great resources for fresh finds.
Baskets Of Joy: This shop carries the traditional long leather handles intended for basket-making that are recommended in the Easy Breezy Tote pattern instructions. Most of these handles come with lacers and keepers—the strands of leather and small leather panels that go on the inside of the bag to hold them snugly in place. These are perfect if you're looking for something sturdy and classic.
Laci's: Hidden in the purse-frame section of this wonderful supplier are some excellent modern handles made of leather, bamboo, Lucite, and chain. Check out the cool red and black Lucite handle shown above. Start here for wonderful accents that will inspire the shape of your bag, and don’t be afraid to call them if you have questions about the ordering process. I know from first-hand experience that their staff is very friendly.
Purl Soho: Another of my favorite places to search is yarn and fabric retailer extraordinaire—Purl Soho. They’ve recently updated their site with elegant synthetic leather handles in a variety of sophisticated colors such as aqua and mustard yellow. For something really unique, check out the colorful crepe handles (pictured above). They’re sure to turn any bag into a fashion statement. The best part of this site: you can buy the handles, yarn, and fabric for the lining all in one stop.
