The Color Wheel: A Paper Crafter's Must-Have Tool
June 9th, 2008 in paper craftsAre you overwhelmed by your paper stash? I often find myself scratching my head as I ponder things like “What color will look hot with this yummy shade of coral?” or “How can I balance out too much yellow in that cute patterned paper?” With hundreds of different colors and patterns of cardstock, I sometimes suffer the tyranny of abundance.
One of my most indispensable tools as a paper crafter is the color wheel. Many a color quandary has it solved for me, saving me loads of time and oodles of frustration.
If you’ve not yet been introduced to the color wheel, it’s a circular diagram of colors that allows you to mix, match, and identify primary and secondary colors. For a quick introduction to color theory in scrapbooking, I recommend the Color Wheelin’ and Dealin’ over at Scrap Jazz.
Color wheels come in a variety of sizes and shapes at scrapbook, art, and craft stores for less than $10, so there’s no virtually excuse not to have one of these handy tools on your workbench.
