The art of sewing is over 20,000 years old with the first sewing needles being made from animal bones or horns. Not only that, the first thread was made from animal sinew! In 1755 the first possible patent of the sewing machine was connected to a German man named Charles Wiesenthal. Years later, an English inventor named Thomas Saint was the first patent of the sewing machine in 1790. As time goes by, many improvements to the sewing machine were made to aid us in our daily life. That is why it is an import asset for us to use.

 Sewing is important in our everyday life because it can help you save money. Sometimes when you shop at clothing stores, the clothes may be expensive or may not fit right. This may result in you spending unnecessary money that could be used for later. When you learn how to sew, you can make a lot of one-of-a-kind outfits and accessories. These outfits and accessories can be passed down from generation to generation. Having the skill to sew a hem back in pants and skirts also sewing a button back on is important and can prevent you from spending a lot of money to get it done.

Another reason why sewing is important in our everyday life is that it is an important life skill that teaches us building techniques. Sewing helps you develop fine motor skills which are involved in smaller movements that occur in the wrists, hands, fingers, feet, and toes. Sewing also teaches you how to focus and concentrate, which can enhance our precision. You can also learn how to be patient and have self-control when you sew which is beneficial because these are life assets that people need to develop. You can also learn to be creative throughout sewing by creating new treads.

Last reason why sewing is an important asset to use because you can go green. Sewing allows you to reuse anything made from fabric. For example, thrift stores and yard sales will net you the best choices of fabrics waiting to be transformed. Items such as curtains can be a throw pillow for a bed. You can use a duvet and turn it in into a shower curtain. You can turn a men's shirt into a little girl's dress. Even with the minimal sewing skills that you possess, you can use can always recycle fabric and turn it into something unique.

As you can see, sewing can be an important asset skill to have in your daily life. Sewing has been around for generations and will continue to involve because it is that important to human beings. We can use sewing to help us save financially and not spend an excessive amount of money by creating one-of-a-kind outfits. We use sewing to express our creativity and build a lot of skills that can help us in our everyday life. Last, sewing can be great for the environment by recycling materials for new clothes or furniture decorations for your home.
