Children's board books are easy to find in places like dollar stores and library book sales.  Even if they aren't in the best shape, they can be altered.  Either peel off the shiny paper on each page or sand the pages and gesso them so that papers and paint can be adhered.  This book fascinated me because it was in the shape of a house and had a window.
