How to Make a Rugged Leather Journal Cover

To trim the skin to blend in with the natural edge, turn the scissors at an angle while you cut. |
2. From the wrong side, trim the left edge, allowing 3 to 4 inches for the overlap that will hold the top cover. Fold in and hold in place with paper clips.

Clean-cut the edge of the top cover’s overlap with a rotary cutter. |
3. Cut a strip 2 to 3 inches wide to hold the back cover in place. Use the rubber cement to “glue baste” it in place along the top and bottom edges.

Add a strip of leather to the inside of the back cover and glue baste in place at the top and bottom edges with rubber cement. |
