My cousin's sweet 16 is fast approaching and I discovered that I was out of birthday wrapping paper for her gift. I may not have wrapping paper, but I do have a mountain of a felt stash. Why not try and wrap the present in felt? The beauty of wrapping a present in felt or fabric is that the outside is as much of a gift as the treasure inside.

I simply used strong double-sided adhesive and wrapped the gift as I normally would with paper. A rotary cutter with a wave blade was used to create felt ribbon, which was also fastened with double sided adhesive. Finally, I added a couple of felt flowers and embroidered a Sweet 16 tag for fun. I hope the gift (and the wrapping) brings a smile to my cousin's face!

Give the felt gift wrap idea a try around the holidays if you have some extra felt or fabric lying around. You could also embroider a little gift tag with the recipient's name.

p.s. - Be sure to take a look at Futuregirl's tutorial for making your own hand-embroidered felt labels. I used wax paper rather than tear-away stabilizer and was pleased with the results.
