Over 20,000 people have taken the pledge to buy handmade items on the Buy Handmade site - Have you?

The organizers of the pledge site; which has partnered with big crafting names such as Etsy, Craft magazine, Craftster, American Craft Council, Burda Style and Interweave press; cite many reasons for buying handmade. Among their convincing arguements are: more meaningful gift-giving, supporting small businesses, making personal connections, ushering in environmental change by eschewing goods manufactured at large factories and, in many cases, purchasing somthing made nearby that did not have to be shipped as reasons for buying handmade.

Another implied reason for buying handmade? The stuff is usually way awesomer.
