In the early 80's I was still painting things with fabric acrylic paints. 

I can't remember where I acquired this piece but I spent more than a month finishing it.  Every once in awhile I'd pick up a different tube and fill in just the area that called for that colour. 

The design was stamped on a sheet of pellon and a paper chart gave instructions on how to fill in and blend colours.  The item was only about $11, but by the time I bought all the tubes and then had it framed with mat board and glass, etc. the end result, without labour was almost $200.
