Susan's Sensational Satchels
December 27th, 2008 in sewing, galleryAll of these totes and bags were made from Lazy Girl Designs. Joan Hawley the number one Lazy Girl has designed these to be fast, easy and useful. they are fun to make, and the desings and construction are well thougth out.
The Summer Tote with the coffee cups I made for my daughter Melissa for a writer's confernece. Her book's workiong title was Universal Blend. I embroidered the nemae of the book on both sides of the bag. The bag body is hot pink linen embroidered with sequins. the coffee cup fabric is Spill the Beans by Barbara Tortillote for ClothWorks.
The Summer Tote with the fish is for my OLDER sister Delia. As you can see she is using it and stuffing it full. This is the same Ocean songs fabrci by Laurel Burch that I used for my pillows.
The Noriko Bag is a free PDF pattern that Joan gave to the rest of us Lazies for Christmas. I made seven of these cuties for gifts. They are made out of Thai silk, and the top sticihing is with metallice thread. I went to the local dollar store for necklaces I could take apart for the beads. This bag is only 6" by 9". It was a hit with my friends.
The last bag is one I made for myself, but I have made two others.
The body is linen embroidered with palm trees..I found it on sale at Joann's several years ago (see I do use my stash) The floral in the center is KP Kids & Co Kari Pearson for SSI.The lining is batik.
All of the buttons are from my 50th birthday party when all guests were asked to bring a button and a story about why that button was chosen!
