Love Lotta? Check out Red Bridge Studios
comments (0) June 18th, 2008I got to meet Tyshawn Henry last week at Lotta Jansdotter's Brooklyn printing party. We started chatting when I noticed how skillful she seemed at Lotta's pringing techniques compared to, well, me.
It turns out she's so skilled because she's been screen-printing for four years out of her Brooklyn studio and puts out her own line of printed bags, homegoods and accessories called Red Bridge.
She said, of her beautiful line and printing background, "One of my favorite things about printing is color. I love to play and experiment with color palettes. My printmaking background also includes intaglio, paper lithography, and woodblock printing. Most Red Bridge Studio patterns are printed in my Brooklyn studio. I print on natural fibers, mostly linen and cotton, as well as on paper and wood. All of my tote bags have recycled fabric, usually in the lining. It's a way to reuse fabric that may other wise be thrown away.
