Check out this cool covered tree, the handiwork of Shula (Poppalina), Miss Pen Pen and other Australian crafters who got together to dress it in doilies this weekend. The tree is slated to be removed along with all of the others on the street--hopefully this everyday art will make a difference.

They may have been inspired by the other tree shown above (found via Oh Joy), which was wrapped in Toronto back in 2004. I am really curious to see how these projects hold up over time, although I imagine the doilies must be removed eventually so that the tree can continue to grow.
