Les, aka Leslie Timpe, designs the Squasht line of hats, dresses, tops and hoodies that are so my style. Seemingly already broken-in, her hats still look great after being shoved in a pocket or purse until needed and her dresses are just right, right out of a suitcase. It's this kind of effortless chic that I crave and admire. Not to mention that her looks are original and manage to seem both vintage and modern at once.

I saw Les again at Renegade Craft Fair last week and she had her signature Bella hat (an innovative hybrid hat style she mastermined that mixes elements of newsboy, crusher and cloche hats for a look that goes with everything) in new fabrics (tone-on-tone cream damask...sigh) with devastatingly cute polka-dot ribbons across the brim. I had to really restrain myself from buying another hat as well as one of her scruched halter tops.

The St. Louis-based designer prides herself on eco-friendly techniques, materials and sweatshop-free labor. Since her line is carried in over 30 indie boutiques around the country and available for sale on her site, she does have a seamstress helping her craft the line at home in the midwest. I'm sure it won't be long before she has a whole staff churning out Bella hats in every possible color and fabric...
