Before you get started, gather your supplies.

Begin by securing the yarn around the flip-flop. I am showing it at the center of the strap for clarity's sake, but you will want to start as close to the right edge as possible.

Bring the hook under the strap, yarn over, and draw the loop to the outer edge of the strap.

Keeping the last loop at the outer edge of the strap, bring the hook up over the strap.

With the hook on top of the strap, yarn over and draw the loop through the two loops at the outer edge of the strap. You've essentially just completed a single crochet around the flip-flop. Continue making single crochets for the length of the strap in the same manner: Bring the hook under the strap, yarn over, and draw the loop to the outer edge of the strap, bring the hook over the top of the strap, yarn over, and draw the loop through both loops at the outer edge of the strap.

When you get to the center of the strap, just crochet around the toe prong and continue along.

Make as many single crochets as necessary to cover the left side of the strap.

Next, you'll need to secure both yarn ends.

LindaPermann writes: JuleeAn- That's the retail price for La Luz (it's a luxury, hand dyed silk yarn). Of course, you are free to substitute ANY yarn you like and I am sure you can get the effect with much cheaper options. I happened to have some and it matched my flip flops, so that's what I used.
