To seal these hair sticks naturally, while giving them a smooth finish, I used my woodburing tool and burned along the sides and tip.  Burning lightly where I wanted less color.
Here are the sticks presented at an angle so that you can see where the wood buring was applied darker vs lighter - the light still allows for a smooth finish & polished look.
