Wardrobe Refashion: Dress to Shirt
January 5th, 2009 in sewing, fashion, restyle, galleryI made this top out of a striped jersey dress I had in my closet and haven't worn in years. I cut the front and back pieces of the shirt from the bottom of the dress, turning it sideways so the stipes are vertical instead of horizontal. There wasn't enough fabric left to cut both of the sleeves, so I used some leftover magenta jersey from a different project. I then used elastic thread (and the Craftstylish shirring tutorial) to gather the neck, sleeves, and under the bust. Then I added a bow made from the pink jersey scraps and a white button I had floating around. I also used the pink thread to zig-zag stich a lettuce edge to the shirt's hem.
