Peek-a-Boo Pocket Valentine Holdercomments (0) January 27th, 2009
Every year we have a Valentine's Day card exchange at work. The problem? No one ever has a place to put the Valentines! That is why I created this cute pocket bag. Whether for your office, your family (think Christmas stockings), or a child's school exchange, this little holder is a perfect solution.
- One decorative fat quarter—cut into two rectangles 10-3/4 inches x 13-3/4 inches
- One fat quarter for lining—cut into two rectangles 10-3/4 inches x 13-3/4 inches
- Marking pen
- Coordinating thread
- 1/2 yard of coordinating ribbon
- 1-inch-wide dowel rod
On the wrong side of your decorative fabric, draw a rectangle 1 inch x 7-3/4 inches. Draw the rectangle 2 inches away from the side edges and 3-1/2 inches from the top edge.
Layer your decorative fabric with one of your lining pieces right sides together. Stitch around your rectangle directly on the line.
With your marking pen, draw a line down the center of your rectangle, stopping 1/2 inch away from each end. Draw diagonally into each corner.
Cut through both layers on these lines. Open the seam and press your decorative fabric.
Turn right side out through the opening. You have a lined opening now!
Place your remaining lining and decorative rectangles wrong sides together. Cut three pieces of ribbon 4 inches long and fold in half. Pin one in the center of the pocket bag front and the remaining two 1 inch from each edge. Layer the two decorative pieces right sides together, and pin along the outer edges. Stitch around the outer edge. Trim the corners and turn right side out through the opening. Press. Place a dowel rod through the ribbon loops for easy hanging.
