How to Make a Stylish Sofa Cover
comments (3) February 25th, 2009Now you're ready to quilt your throw. No matter how you've decided to do the quilting, it's important that you start at the middle of the throw. Trust me on this one. I know it's hard and cumbersome, but if you start at the easy ends you will get bunching at the middle of your throw and it will be one heck of a bummer. At least that's what happened to me the first quilt I made.
Also, if you don't have a walking foot for your machine, get one. This is another thing I thought I could do without and, man, was I wrong. It's only about $30 and you will use it over and over again, not only in quilting. A walking foot is great for anytime you're dealing with lots of layers of fabric.

Quilting your throw. I used the pattern of the fabric to inspire my quilting, but you can quilt your throw however you like. Notice my stylish quilting gloves. |
Once your throw is quilted, lay it out on the floor or your sewing table if you're lucky enough to have one of those awesome gigantic cutting tables, and trim the edges. Since fleece doesn't fray, I use the fleece to bind the edges of the canvas.

Trim the excess fleece, leaving 1 inch around the canvas. |

Fold the inch of fleece over the raw edge of the canvas and pin. Sew it down to bind off your throw using a 5/8-inch seam allowance. |
Once your edges are sewn, you're ready to cover your couch and cuddle with your friend. Fur and dirt, try to make your way through this!
After you make this project, show off your work to other members!
