Create a hanging palette to house your makeup pots.
You only need a few materials to create a magnetic makeup palette.

Repeat for your other makeup pots.

Step 2: Prep your metal palette. Place one corner of the sheet metal under the bigger hole of the metal hole punch. Slowly twist the bit until it punches through the sheet. Slowly untwist the bit. Do not try to pull the sheet off the bit; the bit could break and the sheet metal could bend. Repeat on a second corner.

Twist the bit slowly until you feel the metal “give.”

The hole will be small but sufficient for threading ribbon through it.

Step 3: Thread a thin ribbon through one hole from back to front. Pull the ribbon across the front of your palette and thread the ribbon through the second hole from front to back. Even up both ends of the ribbon and tie the two ends in a sweet bow.

Step 4: Hang your makeup palette on a nail in your bathroom or boudoir and add your pots of makeup to the sheet. Pull off each pot as you need it.

In the future, you can find me at my website or blogs, Things I Want to Punch in the Face and Prairie Tales. My new book, Backcountry Betty: Crafting with Style, is in stores now.

Jen_W writes: I got it at Ace Hardware so I'd just try any hardware store. Just make sure the metal is attracted to the magnets. I had the packet of magnets with me so I could try them out. Good luck!

Shaleeshey writes: This is a great idea, I wanted to do something like this to make a magnetic board for posting notes or clipings on it with those decorative magnet pieces they have out now. Where did you get the metal sheet from?

Thanks,
