Repurposed Fabric Snowfolk
comments (2) December 9th, 2009 in galleryWhat started as a personal DIY project for my own holiday decorating a few years ago has turned into a kind of personal trademark. My Snowfolk have such unique personalities - ones that I don't see until I finish the final stitch on their hats. All of the materials I use are repurposed. Their bodies have been made from blankets, sweaters, placemats... the hats are bits of thrifted sweaters... and their scarves are cut from sweaters, wool slacks, flannel shirts... whatever strikes my fancy, really. I love vintage buttons, but don't use them exclusively. They have polyfil inside - much of which is pulled from very unfortunate pillows - and white rice (not repurposed!) in their bases for weight and stability.
