fire and water booties
comments (3) March 26th, 2009 in galleryI made these for my soon to be daughter. (We are adopting her next week.)
The outer is made from vintage silk stamped (using fiber reactive eco sensitive paint) with found items (TRASH – like bottle caps and those annoying little wands that come in bubble solution). Guess what the imprints are.
The ribbon was salvaged from a baby shower gift wrap.
The inner is made from fabric I bought from an apparel company that was bankrupt and being dismembered. All leftover fabric went to the landfill.
I really like the balance of fire and water, symbolizing a strong child.
