This beautiful, petal-covered bauble is made from six sheets of paper and a few clever folds.
This unassuming origami model, when paired with five identical components, creates a charming, and useful, ornamental box.
A simple box becomes an extraordinary jewel with just a few quick pinches of the paper flaps on its six faces.

Your figure should now look like this illustration. The flap (under my finger in this picture) now just needs to be tucked behind the bottom lip (see the next illustration).

(11) This shows the flap in place, tucked behind the lip.

(12) Now fold each of the triangular wings backward (away from the front of the model).

emmyt writes: I love making these boxes, they become addictive, I use them for small to gifts and the receiver likes the box as much as the gift. The are fasinated by the box. I have used scrapbook paper, but I have also used wallpaper, I have some wallpaper books and they make really nice boxes since the paper is heavy but easy to fold. So yes I have made many and had some on hand ready made, I have them all folded to store and just put the sides together when I want to use one. Easy to store that way.

DefyingDestinyy writes: Can someone please guide me through the second part of step 9. I don't understand where you're supposed to fold. Well, I don't understand where the folded part is supposed to go. When I try to do it, it doesn't look like the picture, and the paper doesn't want to bend. I really want to do this because the end result looks beautiful. Please help.
