Friendship Shawl
comments (1) April 16th, 2009 in gallerySince this shawl used yarns made from recycled water bottles, I considered this fun project to be inspired by the "water" category. I call this the "Friendship Shawl" because this is a very easy gift project for any good friend. I made this project under seven days and using only four rolls of yarn from recycled water bottles. Reserve two rolls of yarn for the center part of the project, and begin with 60 stitches and size 13 knitting needles. Then, add 15 rows of lacey-pattern with a crocheting needle on each side for a more elegant look. Each end of the shawl is finished with 23 pieces of 7-inches of tassels (tie together 10 pieces of yarn measuring fifteen inches in length). This shawl is light in weight and good enough for a night out, or a cozy time in front of the T.V. at home. Let us all make an effort to save the plannet, one water bottle at a time. Knitting with yarns made from recycled water bottle is a small step in saving the earth. But, don't underestimate the power of many with the same goal!
