Denim bag - Bird & Wind
comments (0) April 22nd, 2009 in galleryI made a small (5 1/8" x 5 1/4" excluding fringe) denim shoulder bag - out of a leg remnant from a pair of jeans that were made into shorts. The spiral design on the bottom of the bag is one of my favorites and in my Native culture represents wind. In keeping with that theme I added the sweet little red bird who travels on the wind. I sewed smoked buckskin fringe into the bottom seam for the movement of wind.
I used an old zipper I found in one of my sewing drawers to close the top of the bag and the shoulder strap is made from a discarded drawstring from the hood of my husband's sweatshirt.
