upcycled tee bag
comments (2) April 22nd, 2009 in galleryBag made from upcycled materials. Tee used for the exterior front and back, reused denim for bag bottom, repurposed handle and the liner is made from hand dying old linens!
I love reusing any kind of product to create new things. There never fails to be an abundance of tee shirts laying around or people getting rid of them. Of course you can donate or create home items, but what about that tee shirt you just love and can't bear to part with? You create a handbag! I use the front and back of the tee shirt for the outside of the bag. Old denims are cut and used for the bag bottom. I have found a great fusible web that works well with tees and keeps shape rather than stretching. You can always find old bags and reuse the handles!
For the liner of the bags, I reuse linens or sheets, clean them and then tie dye them to add a bit of fun and whimsy to the inside of the bag. I also use this for creating the interior pockets. A great little project that reuses so much!
And the leftover fabrics and tee material? I use to stuff old pillow cases and make little beds for pets!
The elements used are ultimately from the earth by using 100% cotton fabrics!
