Sunset Style - Sewstylish Spring Challenge Contest
comments (6) June 1st, 2009 in galleryI designed this outfit for myself, using the features that I felt would compliment my body type and size. The fabrics I used for the tunic and the shorts were both a cotton-lycra blend. I wanted a fitted, sleek and elegant look with easy care and comfortable fabric. By adding a front band under the front bodice, I was able to feature a machine embroidery design. Inserted at the top edge of both the bodice and the back is a 1/4 inch contrasting fabric trim that is enhanced with decorative topstitching. The same treatment was done to the straps. A fly was added to the zippers on both the tunic and the shorts for ease of wearing. The shorts were also lengthened 3 inches, which is a better length for my body type. I learned to sew in my teens and have never stopped sewing. This includes everything from intricate horse show outfits to bathing suits to upholstery. So much more than a hobby, it is more of a lifestyle for me. I hope to win this contest based on my experience, my techniques and my style that I have demonstrated through this distinctive outfit.
