Gina's Apron
comments (0) May 3rd, 2009 in galleryMy girlfriend Gina asked me to make her an apron. Her only requests were that it be brown and pink and that it have pockets. She loved the vintage-inspired style of the very first apron I sewed (the Full Contact Apron from Anna Marie Horner's "Seams to Me: 24 New Reasons to Love Sewing"), so I used that experience as my starting point. I added D-Rings at the neck to she can adjust the fit to be just right. Also, I made the waist tie longer so she can tie it to the front or the back. The bib features an inverted pleat, a detail I love on these aprons! I added a little loop on one side to hold a dish towel plus two pockets. I had just finished a project with a ruffle, so I thought that would be a flirty little addition to the apron. (You can't see it in the photo, but the waist tie features pleating on each side where it joins the bib - again, an extra little detail to make it special.)
