I made this summer dress for my Granddaughter so I wanted it to be fun and flirty. I followed the pattern and added the liner/slip for modesty. I added elastic tape to the top edge of the dress to keep it close to the body and so it would not sag. I added a white ribbon under the breast to keep it young looking. The ribbon can be worn in front, to the side, or in the back as it is not sewed on but glides through thread loops on the sides and in the back. I used a 16" invisible zipper and started it under the arm for ease in putting the dress on. To finish the dress off and keeping with the summer mood, I made a petal hem. I used my embroidery machine and satin stitched the scallops, I used the fashion fabric behind the scallops. I think my dress looks young and cute with a hem that is unusual and fun. I like the addition of the ribbon to make it feminine and girly.
I would like to win the contest and the software. I learned pattern drafting back in the dark ages of paper and pencil it would be fun to enter the modern era with cad software. I would like to win the sewing machine also as I am teaching one of my granddaughters to sew as it is not offered in the rural school she attends. To have
a second machine for her to sew on while I am sewing would be very special. May the best designer win!
