Grocery tote made of large Friskies bag.
I cashier and if you ever wonder why you get nasty looks from your bagger when you hand him/her your cloth totes it is either because your bag does not have loops...or they dont know how to use them.

Grocery tote made of large Friskies bag.

Repurposed Friskies bag made out of their nearly indestructible "new" fabric. Loop to be placed on metal hook on bag dispenser at checkstand. Metal hook holds bag on so you or your bagger may bag with both hands instead of using one hand to hold bag open.

KarpetKiller writes: Sorry fancypants, I haven't been on in a while. I am a new crafter so I don't know the technical term for the ribbon, but its the kind you find on backpacks. JoAnns has a nice selection of it in wild prints and such. I rinsed the bag out and wiped it with some dish soap, then set it outside upside down to dry. It retained some smell but lost it after a week or so of airing out.

fancypants writes: what type of ribbon /binding did you use around the top of the the bag. did you just rinse the bag out before you put the binding and handle on and did it dry out okay. I use friskies for one of my cats and I rally do like the idea. My friskies comes with about 20 or more pounds of food in there and I also use Science Diet bags, so that might also work. I want something that is really strong. how long did it take you to make it. great idea. thanks for sharing with us.
