This double-crochet sweater coat was inspired by a Vogue Knitting International magazine design, winter 1989. When I crocheted this, I didn’t have access to an intact magazine with instructions and schematics for the sweater coat. I crocheted my version using only the picture to create this “hooked knit.”

I enjoy looking at the many great knitting designs offered by Vogue Knitting, Rowan, and others, but I prefer to crochet, so I've learned to recreate knitting designs in crochet.

I started stitching this while I was on vacation, so I was able to spend some time on it every day for a week. Therefore, it only took me about three weeks to finish it.

Since I used the double-crochet stitch, that helped speed things up as well.
