Couture Hospital Gown
comments (4) September 18th, 2009 in galleryThis is a couture hopsital gown inspired by B.Y.O.G Bring Your Own Gown (www.shopbyog.com). I first heard about B.Y.O.G after reading something online about Tori Spelling giving birth in a designer hospital gown. It mentioned that she had received it as a gift, and the buyer purchased from B.Y.O.G. I loved the look and the idea of having a beautiful gown to wear in the hospital instead of the drab ones that are provided.
I did not have a pattern for this gown, I just went by photos. I did cut a few different shapes of the fabric to try out before constructing the final garment, so that I could get a correct 'maternity' shape. I added snaps on the tops of the sleeves to allow for opening up for exam procedures and nursing comfort. For the back it ties closed, in the style of a wrap dress. I thought about putting snaps down the back, but ended putting snaps down the back of another hospital gown. Both are easy access.
I made this gown for someone else who was expecting and they loved it. I'd love to know what you think.
