Silk Tie Vest
comments (2) September 22nd, 2009 in galleryI was inspired to complete this project because I have wanted to incorporate the technique of using the many silk ties I purchased from various thrift stores into making a unique piece of clothing for some time. My goal was to create a vest that was versitile enough to wear casually or to dress up for a informal dressy night out. I thought the use of denim would meet this goal and also insure that the silk fabric would hold up under any stress through the back, hem and button hole areas. Pearl buttons and a pinstripe denim were used to add a vintage touch and to enable me to dress-up the vest for night-time wear. I used one of several basic vest patterns I own, making the necessary adjustments for the denim placket and bottom trim.
