The recycled-shirt apron mentioned below.  I call it my mola-mola apron -- because with the two fanny flaps at the bottom, it looks rather like an oceanic sunfish, also known as mola-mola.

I discovered this site entirely by accident -- I was looking for ideas for making a quilt from recycled clothes, and stumbled upon Diane Gilliland's excellent article on recycling sheets and a blanket into a simple quilt.  Needless to say, I was impressed, and here I am :)

I'm not, by any means, the world's best crafter.  I don't even own a sewing machine (yet -- MUAHAHA!).  I do, however, occasionally have good ideas, and I'll try not to be too embarassed about my finished products to post them.  I recently made a neat apron out of an old shirt someone gave my roomie.  It was about three sizes too big for him, but with a few imaginitive modificatons, it turned into an excellent, roomy kitchen apron for me.  I'll try to put together some reasonable instructions and post it here.

My crafting interests include:

  • hand sewing
  • hand embroidery
  • machine sewing
  • hand-spinning
  • knitting
  • quilting
  • any other method that can be used to make practical crafts like clothing or household stuff

I haven't started learning to knit yet, so maybe I'll write up my learning-to-knit adventures here, too.
