I love Wenlan Chia. I have been a fan of her Twinkle line for years, and I cannot tell you how excited I was when this book arrived at my desk. Twinkle Sews: 25 handmade fashions from the runway to your wardrobe (Potter Craft, 2009) is definitely a must-have for any fashion sewer.

Twinkle Sews is full of garments that you'll be excited to sew and show off later. Each style is undeniably chic with plenty of details you can make your own. And the best part? ALL of the patterns are included in sizes 0-16 on a CD-ROM. That way you can print them at home as you need them.

Here Wenlan has given us 25 garments divided into four chapters--Everyday Chic: Skirts, Casual Charm: Raglan Sleeve, Effortless Elegance: Drop Shoulder, and Playful Poise: Spaghetti straps. There is minimal sewing instruction, so if you haven't sewn before, you should pick up another reference to be able to complete these projects. The looks range from skirts to dresses and shirts. There are no pants here, but frankly, I don't miss them. All of these garments are wonderfully styled and very inspiring. Bravo, Ms. Chia.

tallymac writes: I'm finding too many patterns - and fashion designers - assume older and "thicker" means having no interest in innovative clothing. However, "Twinkle" makes my fingers itch to return to my sewing machine with some yummy fabrics. The patterns look fairly easy to resize and "tweak" to make age appropriate for grannies everywhere.
I would love to have a copy!
