Plastic bags make for the perfect holiday wreath

This week while shopping for groceries for Thanksgiving, I think I acquired more than 30 plastic bags. (I used my cloth ones, too! It was THAT MUCH FOOD!)

Luckily I stumbled upon this old post on Design*Sponge which demonstrates how to use up that ugly plastic and transform it into a lovely holiday decoration. Check it out and see how easy it is to make this gorgeous wreath that will stand up to any weather outside.

You can also use black bags and trash bag remnants to make one for Halloween next year.

jodied writes: Oh my goodness. We used to do this with "alligator texture" gallon size baggies (I think from Glad) when I was in Brownies! I remember thinking "that was a LOT of sandwiches that could've been wrapped! But looking at it now, I just might have to try it again with my girls! It WAS fun to do.

cathrynm writes: When I was a kid, we made one similar to this out of newspaper. Cut the newspaper strips with more or less oval leaf-shapes at either end, then twisted the paper strips around the hangar until it was full. Then use green spray paint to cover the newsprint, let dry, then add a red bow. They always turned out really nice, too.
