Collaged Recycled Cereal Box Gift Boxes
comments (2) December 25th, 2009 in galleryI write a green crafting column for Natural Life Magazine. The current issue is about making recycled gift wrapping of various kinds. I've made a committment to avoid buying any new paper wrappings this year, but I still want my gifts to look stylish and classy.
I made these collaged boxes over the last few days from cereal boxes and other food packaging. I collaged vintage magazine pages to some, and used an acrylic wash to age the corners. The handles and trim are black satin ribbon. I also made the coordinating gift tags.
For the colorful box, which contains my husband's gifts, I used the colorful pages from a model airplane hobby catalog, red paint and some fun polka dot woven ribbon.
I also had made some small painted boxes embellished with sequins. These were originally yogurt stick boxes cut in half, and have an assortment of pretty ribbons as the trim and handles.
